Systems administrator
Position Overview
We are a leading provider of laboratory specimen collection services, committed to precision, compliance, and patient care. As our Systems Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining secure, efficient, and compliant IT infrastructure across our clinical and operational environments. This hybrid role blends remote flexibility with onsite collaboration, supporting both enterprise systems and the specialized needs of healthcare and laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration & Monitoring
- Administer and monitor on-premise and cloud systems (Windows, Linux, Azure, Office 365)
- Manage system updates, patching, antivirus, endpoint security, and compliance controls
- Monitor performance, storage utilization, and network connectivity across clinical and administrative systems
Identity & Access Management
- Manage user accounts, access controls, and group policies in Active Directory
- Support Microsoft Exchange, Teams, Intune, and SharePoint environments
- Ensure secure access for clinical staff, specimen couriers, and administrative personnel
Technical Support
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated incidents involving systems, networks, and applications
- Troubleshoot issues related to laboratory information systems (LIS), specimen tracking platforms, and mobile data collection tools
Hardware & Asset Management
- Procure, configure, inventory, and secure desktops, laptops, servers, mobile devices, and lab-specific equipment
- Oversee device encryption, remote management, and secure decommissioning
Compliance & Security
- Enforce IT policies and security best practices aligned with HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2 standards
- Conduct and track annual IT security and awareness training for all staff
- Support audit readiness and documentation for clinical and data compliance
Projects & Documentation
- Collaborate on infrastructure upgrades, new technology rollouts, and system migrations
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, system configurations, and asset inventories
- Manage software licenses and contribute to IT budgeting and vendor coordination
Required Qualifications :
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in systems or network administration
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
Technical Expertise :
- Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
- Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure; virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Networking: VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, routing, wireless
- Hardware imaging, setup, asset tracking, and device security
Skills :
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Customer service mindset and confidentiality awareness
- Proficiency in license management and vendor coordination
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in healthcare, clinical laboratories, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with LIS/LIMS systems and instrument integration
- Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, and cybersecurity compliance
- Experience with automation/scripting (PowerShell, Intune, SCCM)
- Certifications: CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator
Work Environment & Schedule :
This hybrid role requires onsite presence at least six (6) days per month, with additional days as needed for critical tasks. Occasional travel to other company locations or client sites may be required, including overnight stays. Evening or weekend work may be necessary for system maintenance or urgent support.
