Merion Mercy Academy, an independent Catholic girls’ school outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, seeks a faith-filled leader to serve as the Campus Minister beginning July 2026. This is a full time, 12 month position. The Campus Minister embodies the School’s mission and Catholic identity with attention given to the spirituality and charism of Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy.

The Campus Minister provides pastoral care, nurtures the spiritual growth of the community, and helps others deepen their relationship with Christ. As a key leader in advancing the school’s Catholic Mercy identity, the Campus Minister provides organized, mission-driven leadership of the ministry program and works with Student Ministry Teams to oversee preparations for school Masses. He/she partners with students, faculty, staff and community organizations to thoughtfully develop and implement prayer experiences, retreats, service opportunities, and other initiatives that support the spiritual life of the community.

The Campus Minister helps create an atmosphere of Mercy hospitality where all feel welcome, based on Catholic faith traditions and rituals and celebrates the diversity of the various faith traditions existent within the community. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to nurturing students in social consciousness based on an integrative understanding of Gospel values, Catholic Social Teaching, and the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, empowering students to serve and to work for justice.

Responsibilities

M inisterial

? Assumes responsibility for all components of community prayer/worship including but not limited to all Masses, prayer services, and celebrations (including Kairos and grade level retreats).

? Develops and implements a strategic vision for Campus Ministry programming, including goal-setting, assessment, and continuous improvement aligned with the school’s mission and Mercy charism.

? Serves as liaison with the wider church through the local school chaplains, local pastors, and/or Archdiocesan Youth Ministers and/or Archdiocesan offices.

? Is accountable for the execution of the Campus Ministry student leadership organization.

P astoral

? Coordinates and implements opportunities for communal prayer: morning prayers on the school-wide broadcast, faculty/staff meetings, and in-services, etc.

? Offers pastoral counseling, spiritual companioning, and community-building activities for the Merion Mercy community.

? Attends and supports all school events, faculty/staff meetings, designated in-services, and weekend and evening events as requested.

? Collaborates with the Theology Department for outreach to faith communities in the greater Philadelphia area to build ecumenical and interfaith relationships.

A dministrative and Instructional

? Collaborates with the administration and Theology department in the planning and implementation of faculty/staff retreats, faculty and staff mission orientation, and community resets.

? Is accountable for all aspects of the Campus Ministry budget.

? Acts as a resource for the school on all church matters.

? Teaches one or more classes in the Theology Department as needed.

Qualifications

? Master’s Degree preferred with at least 5 years experience in youth ministry, pastoral ministry, theology, or religious studies.

? Practicing Catholic with an active sacramental life and knowledge of current Catholic liturgical theology and practice.

? Experience working with youth in a high school, college, or parish setting (experience in secondary education preferred).

? Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

? Warmth, a good sense of humor and an appreciation and respect for teenage girls.

? Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and execute programs with excellence.
