Engineering Manager – Custom Machine Design & Industrial Systems

$140,000 to $170,000 + Bonus + Stock

Lead the engineering function for custom, engineered-to-order machinery, automated work cells, and industrial process solutions. Oversee mechanical design, electrical engineering, and controls development from concept through commissioning. Drive system integration, industrial safety compliance, and advanced controls architecture across PLCs, HMIs, motion platforms, and proximity-sensor–driven automation. Direct the standardization of engineering methods, ensuring robust, reliable, and safe equipment across complex industrial systems. Strong focus on machine safety, sensor logic, controls diagnostics, and high-reliability automated workcell performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 12+ years in machine design, system integration, or industrial automation.
• Background in engineered-to-order equipment, process automation, or custom machinery.
• Expertise in industrial safety systems: safety PLCs, interlocks, light curtains, proximity sensing, safety relays.
• Experience with Siemens S7-1500F, Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Omron NX-Safety, SICK Flexi Soft, or TwinSAFE.
• 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in equipment manufacturing or system-builder environments.

Responsibilities:
• Lead mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers through full machine-design lifecycle.
• Oversee automation architecture for custom machinery, integrated systems, and automated work cells.
• Standardize engineering workflows, documentation, and system design practices.
• Direct development of motion control, robotics, hydraulic systems, PLC/HMI platforms, and sensor-driven automation.
• Manage design reviews, safety validation, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical input for scoping, proposals, and system architecture planning.
