Our client is actively seeking to add an experienced Excavation Estimator to the estimating team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diverse project work in site development, utilities, mass earthwork, and infrastructure projects. Project work is based in Pennsylvania (commercial, residential, and public works projects) and will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates from conceptual through final design stages, and have a thorough understanding of heavy civil construction means and methods.

Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals for heavy civil and excavation projects, including site grading, underground utilities, Storm & Sewer Lines, Site preparation, Asphalt Paving, Concrete, Bridge, Roadway projects.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify risks, constructability issues, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes; ensure scopes are complete and aligned with project requirements.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Field Superintendents to ensure continuity between estimate and project execution.
- Prepare and maintain estimate documentation, bid summaries, and proposal narratives.
- Assist in schedule development and project phasing for bid submissions.
- This role requires an understanding of heavy civil site work construction, along with the ability to interact & effectively communicate with clients, county & township personnel, and team members in a professional timely and efficient manner.
- Stay current with market conditions, production rates, and material pricing trends.
Qualifications
- Four (4) or more years of estimating experience in heavy civil, excavation, or site development construction.
- Proven track record preparing estimates ranging from $3 million to $20+ million.
- Proficiency with civil takeoff and estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, InSite, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Strong understanding of earthwork calculations, cut/fill balancing, and mass grading operations.
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, and private development specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and survey data.
- Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
- Understanding of estimating best practices and bid strategy for both public and private projects.
