Position
Summary

The Extended Day Extended Year School (EDEY) Supervisor is an employee of the Mayor’s Office of Education who works closely with the EDEY school leaders (principals and stakeholders) to supervise a team of ten school coordinators. The core functions of this position are management, training, professional development plans development, data review and reporting, and coordinated support and coaching. More specifically, the manager is the primary support for team members by monitoring, tracking, and providing coaching to ensure the successful implementation of school-based plans. The work also includes ensuring that MOE programs and investments within each school are effectively implemented and managed. Work for this role is conducted under the supervision of the EDEY Program Manager.

Essential Functions

Management & Coaching

  • Work with EDEY program manager to execute recruit, hire and train EDEY school coordinators.
  • Oversees and serves as primary support and supervisor to Coordinators.
  • Works closely with the MOE administrator to complete and track staff evaluations, onboarding/offboarding tasks and other HR related tasks.
  • Encourage staff professional growth through real-time coaching and professional development planning.

Program Implementation

  • Works with staff to facilitate new partnerships and develop cross-site collaborations.
  • Develop work-plans aligned with EDEY program model and goals for each school.
  • Reviews and monitors the implementation of site-based EDEY schools short-term and long-term plans.
  • Facilitates regular meetings with each Coordinator and their school principal to review progress.
  • Works closely with school principals to review school community needs and coordinator performance to ensure alignment to EDEY program model and school-specific work plan.
  • Fosters collaborative and trusting relationships with internal and external partners and leadership team members.

Data Review & Reporting

  • Tracks EDEY program implementation metrics at 20 schools.
  • Prepares regular reports on metrics and offers recommendations.
  • Monitors and supports effective communication, collaboration, and reporting between school partners, district, city, and city services to maximize access to services provided for schools.
  • Provides regular updates to leadership team regarding school progress and supports needed.

Technical Support & Coordination

  • Provides support in collaboration with leadership team and partners to ensure that program needs, and guidelines are met.
  • Supports school-based initiatives by coordinating collaboration between school coordinators and leadership team members.
  • Works with EDEY program manager and consultants to develop needs assessments and feedback mechanisms, access the provider database, and track services.
  • Uses knowledge and skills about workplace training and education and organizational development practices to plan effective organizational interventions.
  • Organizes site-visits and learning tours for Coordinators, partners, and community members.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Training

  • Develops ongoing professional development including capacity-building activities, conferences, initiative-wide and site-based trainings, presentations, peer network meetings and study visits for subordinate staff.

Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration or Project Management.

At three years of experience as a team lead in fields such as community organizing, education, health or social work, or researching extended learning time and opportunities models highly recommended (working in schools – school leadership experience desirable, city government, research institutions or service organizations).
