Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of the Center for Career Development, the Assistant Directorleads all career coaching and education initiatives for students and alumni. The Assistant Director is responsible for strategicdevelopment, implementation, and assessment of career coaching (individual and group) and career education programming that supportsstudents vocational discernment, professional development, and post-graduate success.
The Assistant Director supervises the Center'sCareer Coaches, professional staff and undergraduate and graduate interns to ensure consistent, equitable, and high-quality coachingexperience that equips students with the competencies necessary for success in internships, employment, and/or graduate/professionalschool.
Hire, train, supervise and mentor graduate-level career coaches and undergraduate career coaching interns; conduct regularperformance reviews of all Career Coaches.
In partnership with the Director, the Assistant Director identifies evolving student andinstitutional needs, implements innovative and scalable career coaching strategies and education initiatives, and applies current research,industry trends and professional standards to advance the mission and strategic priorities of the University.
EssentialDuties:
- Serve as the departmental leader for career coaching and education, providing vision, strategic direction, and oversightfor all coaching services and skill development programming
- Assist the Director in implementing an innovative, compelling visionfor the Center for Career Development that aligns with the Universitys Jesuit and Catholic mission and relevant strategic priorities
- Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive, developmental career education framework that supports student career readiness fromentry through post-graduation, including programming in vocational discernment, professional preparation, skill building, networking, andtransition to life after graduation
- Provide individual and group career coaching to students and alumni using evidence based and developmentally appropriate approaches; Administer and interpret career-related inventories, and support students in exploring meaningful work aligned with personal values and goals
- Utilize the career management system, including but not limited to document reviews, scheduling, data tracking, communication, and event management
- Represent the Center for Career Development by proactively engaging with faculty, staff, employers, alumni, and community partners through presentations and workshops to support student success
- Actively cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders to stay current on industry trends, hiring expectations, and workforce needs to inform coaching practices and programming
- Conduct assessment and data analysis to evaluate the utilization and effectiveness of career coaching and programming; use findings to inform continuous improvement and decision making
- Make recommendations to the Director regarding emerging best practices, staffing, technologies, and innovations in career development, based on current research, professional engagement, and benchmarking with industry peers

- Ability to relate to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators
- Excellent written and verbalcommunication, organization and interpersonal skills are essential
- Knowledge of career coaching and career educationmethodologies, including resume and cover letter development, job and internship search strategies, interviewing, networking, careerdecision-making, and post graduate planning
- Strong presentation skills with ability to present to small and large groups
- Knowledge of new developments in career counseling/coaching, placement trends, and post-graduate advisement
- Proficiency inuse of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and career service technologies
- Ability to analyze and use data forassessment, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to plan, implement, and adapt programsin a dynamic and evolving environment.
- The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each persons worth, valuingdiverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
- Must be able to respect, supportand contribute to the Universitys Catholic and Jesuit mission
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Masters Degree in Counseling, Higher Education/Student Affairs, or related field
Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in highereducation, counseling, or student affairs
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including staff development and performancemanagement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in career services, career coaching, or workforcedevelopment preferred
- Direct experience in a college or university setting is preferred
