SummaryUnder the Central Transport Cost center the Central Transporter provides safe and timely transport for patients through the hospital. Job Duties
- Assists with lifting, moving, and positioning patients at the technologist's request
- Transports or moves patients with appropriate awareness of uniqueness of patient, ranging from infant to adult
- Clean and Sterilize Instrument trays using established procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment
- Properly clean and maintain Medical Equipment
- Washes stretchers between each patient's use and places a clean bath blanket on the stretcher
- High School Diploma/GED
- Less than 1 year experience in a distribution center or related field
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
