Plant Power Systems Electrician
About the Role
Our 24/7 manufacturing operation relies on reliable power and precise controls. As a Plant Power Systems Electrician, you will keep production running by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the electrical infrastructure that powers both equipment and facilities. You will blend hands-on electrical work with analytical problem solving, preventive care, and collaboration with engineering on upgrades and projects.
A Day in the Life
You begin by reviewing overnight logs from a plant that never sleeps. A production line throws a fault — you pull up the schematics, meter in hand, and isolate the issue. After implementing a code-compliant repair, you pivot to scheduled preventive maintenance to cut downtime and boost throughput. Later, you join an engineering huddle to plan a PLC controls enhancement for an upcoming equipment upgrade. Throughout the day, you draw on manuals, online resources, and vendor phone support to conquer complex challenges and keep operations steady.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, modify, and repair electrical and electronic circuits, systems, and controls to support production.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using testing equipment, schematics, and industry best practices.
- Follow National and Local Electrical Code guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance on facility and manufacturing equipment to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Address and resolve issues with facility infrastructure and production equipment to support continuous operations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on projects, upgrades, and enhancements for facility and operations equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues using internet resources, technical manuals, phone support, and email.
- Act as a resource for complex electrical and electronic challenges on cross-functional projects.
- Support facility operations by performing team tasks and auxiliary assignments.
