Job Summary
Under general direction, the Assessment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Assessment office. This position includes supervising and managing 3-5 Data Entry and Clerical staff and is responsible for the annual and interim billing for all taxing authorities. The Assessment Supervisor will facilitate the daily administration of the County Clean and Green program and Homestead/Farmstead program. The Assessment Supervisor is responsible to perform the administrative duties for the Board of Assessment Appeals, coordinating all aspects of the Appeal Hearings. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Assessment.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a working knowledge of all functions of the office
- Oversees general office operations and provides updates to management
- Works closely with Director and Assistant Director when needed
- Responsible for the hiring, training, supervising and counseling 3-5 data entry and clerical staff
- Maintains professional working relationships with the Taxing Authorities
- Maintains updated millage rate tables for all taxing authorities within the County
- Responsible for the annual billing for all taxing authorities, including fiscal billing for schools
- Oversees the Interim billing for all taxing authorities
- Manages the Clean and Green Program, processing ongoing revisions and new enrollments, processes violations, calculates rollback taxes and maintains all files and correspondence.
- Administers the Homestead/Farmstead program
- Coordinates all aspects of the Assessment Appeal Hearings – receiving applications, scheduling, attend all hearings, minute taking, decision processing and function as the liaison with the Board
- Performs end-user testing to verify the Assessment software system operates as expected
- Makes recommendations to management on improvements and procedures
- Maintains updated policies, processes and procedures manuals for the assessment office
- Manage office supplies inventory, anticipating needed supplies, placing, and expediting orders for supplies.
- Maintain office files and records, ensuring they are up-to-date and properly managed.
- Initiates and coordinates with IT/ vendor to trouble shoot internal software/equipment issues.
- Receives and responds to Assessment related website inquiries
- Responsible for maintaining and running departmental reports
- Responds to staff queries on office management issues
- Plans all in-house activities of the office
- Provides Notary services for internal and external customers, when licensed
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned

Essential Requirements
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree required or equivalent experience
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience working in an office environment with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage challenges and oversee staff
- Experience working in a public-facing role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer skills, with an aptitude to learn new systems and procedures
- Ability to multitask
- Hands-on experience with office machines and equipment
