Beyond the staff in the classroom, CPC also provides Family Coaches, Positive Behavior Intervention Support, Instructional Support, and Health & Nutrition Education Specialists to help establish clear boundaries, effective behavior modification techniques, and ensure that play and creative activities are central to the children's learning experience.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Expertise: Apply knowledge of Early Childhood theory, child development, and behavior management.
- Environment: Create and maintain a clean, safe, and positive classroom that fosters respect, active learning, and cultural responsibility.
- Collaboration: Work with parents and teaching staff to plan developmentally appropriate activities that stimulate problem-solving, language acquisition, and social development.
- Schedule: Follow a consistent schedule with planned activities, including group experiences, music, outdoor play, and effective transitions.
- Preparation: Prepare classroom materials to support lesson plans and adapt learning centers to meet individual and group needs.
- Parent Engagement: Conduct parent conferences and home visits to share information on children's progress and design individual education plans; develop and conduct parent education activities and encourage participation.
- Assessment: Assess children's development using assigned tools and collaborate with parents and staff to meet special needs.
- Documentation: Maintain required paperwork, including lesson plans, observations, and education records.
- Integration: Incorporate health services, nutrition, social services, and parent involvement into planned activities.
- Health Observations: Conduct regular health checks and report signs of abuse or neglect.
- Leadership: Train and support assistant teachers in delivering developmentally appropriate learning experience; take personal responsibility, show leadership, and be dependable, flexible, and professional in a team environment.

Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Child and Family Studies or Elementary Education plus one-year related work experience with preschool children; may consider associate degree (A.A.) in the same fields.
- Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is highly desired; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Whenever possible, speak the client’s language to the best of your ability.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families.
- Willingness to actively participate in agency task forces and work groups to fulfill Head Start goals.
- Desire to stay current in early childhood education strategies through ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility to adjust work schedule to attend program functions and accommodate parents' schedules.
- Must have reliable transportation to facilities throughout York County as regular and timely attendance is essential; may need to start workday at different agency sites without compensation for travel time.
- Demonstrate good customer service and communication skills.
