Landscape operational manager
Job Description
Job Description
Our owner is seeking a proactive, hands-on leader to manage the day-to-day field operations, allowing them to focus on business development, estimating, and closing new projects. If you're passionate about quality landscaping, love leading teams, and thrive in a dynamic, on-site environment, this is your chance to make a significant impact on a historic local business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Direct On-Site Crew Management: Lead, motivate, and supervise multiple crews across multiple job sites daily. Ensure all projects (especially hardscaping, design, and seasonal cleanups) are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
* Project Execution & Quality Control: Oversee all aspects of project completion, from initial setup to final walkthrough. Ensure work aligns with design specifications and client expectations.
* Scheduling & Logistics: Manage daily and weekly crew schedules, equipment allocation, and material procurement to optimize workflow and meet deadlines. Coordinate deliveries for stone, mulch, and other necessary materials.
* Problem Solving: Proactively address and resolve any on-site challenges, ensuring smooth project progression and client satisfaction.
* Training & Development: Provide on-the-job training and guidance to crew members, fostering their skills and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
* Equipment & Vehicle Care: Oversee the proper use, routine maintenance, and care of all company equipment and vehicles.
* Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce strict safety protocols on all job sites to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
* Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the owner and the field crews. Provide regular updates on project status, progress, and any potential issues. Handle routine client communication regarding project updates.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in landscape operations management or a senior foreman role, with direct experience in hardscaping (stone patios, walls, steps) preferred.
* Strong leadership and team-building skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and manage field crews effectively.
* Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
* Solid understanding of landscape maintenance practices, hardscaping techniques, equipment operation, and horticulture.
* Proficiency in reading landscape plans and executing designs accurately.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions in the field.
* Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).
* Physical ability to perform duties on various terrains and in all weather conditions.
