THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is looking for a detailed oriented person to coordinate and direct the security and treatment programs within housing units at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. Apply today!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Unit Manager for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of unit programs for your assigned Institution.

You will be responsible for developing and revising Unit Mission Statements, Operational Goals, Objectives, and Procedures in conjunction with Leadership. You will be supervising a multi-disciplinary staff and implementing the overall unit program. You will be providing training, performance appraisals, and professional development for all personnel assigned to the unit, including Corrections Officers. You will be managing unit resources and providing input on budget development. You will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring overall unit security and being accessible and responsive to the concerns of both staff and inmates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in a correctional institution/facility in correctional security, treatment, quasi-judicial hearings or counseling ;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in a correctional institution/facility in correctional security, treatment, quasi-judicial hearings or counseling.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
