Associate Director, Clinical Outsourcing

Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c). Our success is driven by our people. Associate Director, Clinical Outsourcing Position Summary The Associate Director, Clinical R&D Outsourcing is responsible for assisting in the management all aspects of vendor contracting, site contracting, and negotiation / execution of all required agreements in support of the clinical plan. This role partners closely with Clinical Operations and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure CROs and external vendors deliver high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective clinical trial execution. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on vendor management across all phases of clinical development. Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary outsourcing lead for assigned clinical programs and trials
- Lead CRO and ancillary vendor selection activities, including RFP development, bid analysis, and negotiation
- Negotiate clinical scopes of work, budgets, payment milestones, and change orders in collaboration with Legal, Finance, and Procurement
- Ensure contracts and amendments support protocol requirements and operational needs
- Identify and implement cost-optimization opportunities while maintaining trial quality and timelines
- Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Data Management, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Quality, and Project Management
- Provide outsourcing expertise to study teams from protocol development through study close-out
- Support inspection readiness, audits, and CAPA activities related to CROs and other clinical vendors
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years of experience in clinical outsourcing
- Demonstrated experience managing CROs/ancillary vendors across Phase I–III clinical trials (Phase IV a plus)
- Strong track record in clinical contract negotiation, budget management, and vendor oversight
- Deep understanding of clinical trial operations and ICH/GCP requirements
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple studies and vendors in parallel
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced clinical environment
- This position is intended to be in the office three days a week but there is the potential to be flexible on an ‘as needed’ basis. A limited amount of travel will be required for in-person meetings.

Base salary is determined by several factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs and market demands. The base salary range for this position is $169,000 - $206,000 per year.
