Nightshift Forklift Operator - Freezer

DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER: Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region. Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.

SUMMARY: The role of a forklift operator entails the efficient and safe handling in the lifting and moving of product throughout the facility to its correct storage area in the warehouse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Fill pick locations in an accurate and timely manner to avoid slowing down the picking process.
• Stacking empty pallets and relocation of pallets.
• Movement of product to the correct locations in the warehouse.
• Performing quality checks on new inbound product when preparing it for storage.
• Carryout simple maintenance on the forklift, like recharging its battery and reporting any equipment malfunctions or faults to the supervisor or technicians.
• Stack products by hand in warehouse locations when the situation demands.
• Reporting damage or safety concerns to managers and supervisors.
• Restocking bins with product when locations become empty or low in quantity based on an RF system.
• Maintain warehouse stock in a neat and orderly condition.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have a good knowledge of warehouse arrangement, layout, and functionality.
• Must be physically able to lift product weighing up to and sometimes exceeding 60 lbs.
• Knowledge of using a RF system to track product within the warehouse.
• An understanding and knowledge of food safety regulations.
• Must have good communication and be able to perform simple mathematical calculations with the ability to adhere to instructions.
• Ability to continue standing for long periods of time, up to 12 hours or more as required.
• Must be effective in a team oriented working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Forklift certification and training required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
