Communications and development officer

The Development and Communications Officer plays a key role in telling Montco SAAC’s story and connecting our mission to the broader community. This position leads the organization’s marketing, communications, and public engagement efforts while supporting development initiatives such as donor communications, small fundraising events, and grant coordination.
This role is ideal for a creative communicator who thrives on storytelling, brand-building, and relationship development. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Development team, the Manager ensures consistent messaging that enhances Montco SAAC’s visibility, inspires giving, and celebrates the voices of the aging adults we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing, Branding, and Communications (Primary Focus)
- Develop and manage Montco SAAC’s marketing and communications strategy to elevate visibility and engagement across the community.
- Lead storytelling efforts that highlight the impact of Montco SAAC’s programs, participants, and partnerships.
- Create digital content (social media, email, website updates) using Wix, Canva, and Constant Contact to maintain a lively and consistent online presence.
- Tailor messaging for key audiences including seniors, caregivers, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
- Maintain consistent visual and narrative branding across all materials and platforms.
- Produce and curate multimedia content, photos, videos, and testimonials that showcase programs and participant stories.
- Monitor engagement metrics to inform future campaigns and strengthen outreach.
Development and Partnership Support (Secondary Focus)
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement annual fundraising appeals and donor communications.
- Maintain accurate donor data in Little Green Light, ensuring reliable records for communications and stewardship.Coordinate fundraising and community engagement events.
- Support donor stewardship through timely acknowledgments, recognition efforts, and storytelling-driven appeals.
- Assist with grant management including research, alignment, and tracking.
Collaboration and Organizational Leadership
- Work closely with the Development team to align communications and fundraising strategies with organizational goals.
- Provide materials, talking points, and creative input to support staff and board fundraising efforts.
- Represent Montco SAAC at community events and networking opportunities, serving as a brand ambassador.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field. (Equivalent experience can be considered)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit development.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with attention to tone and audience.
- Proficiency with Wix, Canva, Constant Contact (or similar platforms) and major social media platforms.
- Experience managing donor databases or CRM systems preferred.
- Familiarity with grant processes and community partnerships.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities collaboratively.
- Experience with photography, video, or other creative media a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $45,000–$55,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, abbreviated work week, and retirement plan participation.
Work Environment
This position is based at Montco SAAC’s Norristown or Ambler center with hybrid flexibility for administrative tasks. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for events or deadlines.
