Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Genomics Research Associate with 1+ year of hands-on experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows, specifically in Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and Whole Exome Sequencing (WES). The selected candidate will be responsible for DNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing operations, and quality control (QC) for genomics research projects. This role requires meticulous laboratory skills, familiarity with Illumina platforms, and a strong understanding of sequencing QC processes.

The successful candidate will play an essential role in executing DNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing runs, and quality control (QC) for genomics research projects. This position requires strong technical skills, meticulous laboratory practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform DNA extraction from various sample types, including blood, tissue, and FFPE (Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded) samples.
• Prepare sequencing libraries for WGS and WES according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate and maintain Illumina NGS platforms (e.g., NovaSeq, NextSeq) under supervision.
• Conduct pre-run and post-run QC using Bioanalyzer or TapeStation, and perform quantification using Qubit and qPCR.
• Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of experiments, QC results, and sequencing runs.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance guidelines.
• Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and optimize workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or related fields.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in NGS library preparation and sequencing workflows.
• Familiarity with Illumina sequencing platforms and basic sequencing operations.
• Understanding of sequencing QC tools and metrics.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with DNA fragmentation techniques and target enrichment methods.
• Exposure to basic bioinformatics QC tools such as FastQC and MultiQC.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs accurately.
• Good organizational skills for managing multiple samples and projects.
• Effective communication skills for documenting and reporting experimental outcomes.
