Personal care assistant - central

Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

Work with special needs students providing behavior and academic support. Assist in implementing effective educational programs as assigned by the case manager or behaviorist. Support instruction and help meet special needs including feeding, toileting, positioning, and monitoring health conditions of students with disabilities.

Schedule:
Full days with a 30-minute unpaid break.
Assignments may be at an elementary, middle, or high school level.

Essential functions may include:

• Provide instruction to individuals or small groups in areas such as cognitive skills, motor skills, feeding, self-help, and behavior control
• Assist in maintaining health and safety of students with physical disabilities
• Support students with personal hygiene including hand washing, toileting, and changing as needed
• Monitor and manage student behavior according to guidelines
• Assist specialists with physical development activities
• Prepare students for mainstream classes
• Attend training and in-services related to medical and instructional needs
• Help students with orthopedic equipment and positioning
• Maintain records related to student progress
• Implement positive behavior intervention support policies
• Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff
• Support students in social interactions
• Work independently and cooperatively as needed
• Perform other related duties as required
