Your mission

• Own the selection of welding techniques and procedures across diverse applications and qualification scopes.
• Author WPS/PQR/WPQ and ensure alignment with ASME Section IX , ASME Section III , AWS , and NAVSEA requirements—including exposure to NAVSEA 250-1500 .
• Enable production excellence using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, PTAW to achieve X-ray quality structural and seal welds.
• Apply welding metallurgy to interpret material specs and resolve non-routine problems in nontraditional manufacturing and repair work.
• Design and manage materials-joining work plans with schedules, budgets, and resource forecasting.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to clear joining roadblocks and provide practical technical support.
• Lead, mentor, and train engineers and Weld Development Lab Technicians ; support procedure and personnel qualifications per contract and code.
• Participate in reviews across engineering, manufacturing, and programs; assess supplier qualifications/procedures and assist with supplier audits.
• Continuously scout and implement improved welding processes and techniques for new and evolving materials.

Must-haves

• BS in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science; advanced degree preferred.
• 6+ years’ experience in manufacturing (preferred).
• Proven capability with FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW, PTAW .
• Experience with at least one of: ASME Section III & IX, AWS, NAVSEA .
• Hands-on with carbon, alloy, and stainless steels; nickel and copper-based alloys; plus dissimilar metal welding .
• Background as a Welding, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineer.
• Clear, effective communication to create, control, and present procedures and technical documentation.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals (required by DoD).
