Senior Accounting & Finance Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controller / Senior Accounting & Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of a diverse, multi-business organization. This position is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, payroll, tax compliance, and financial analysis across multiple operating entities.

The ideal candidate is a strategic financial leader who can work closely with ownership and senior management to improve profitability, control costs, strengthen financial processes, and support the development of new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee the financial management and accounting operations of multiple businesses, including restaurants, retail locations, service businesses, food brokerage operations, and real estate investments.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Monitor financial performance and provide senior management with actionable recommendations to increase revenue, improve margins, and reduce operating costs.
• Conduct cash flow analysis and manage short- and long-term cash requirements.
• Review revenue, expenses, labor costs, inventory, and other key financial performance indicators.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic business and operational decisions.

Accounting Operations

• Oversee general ledger activities and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Perform and review reconciliations for cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts, and general ledger accounts.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Utilize accounting systems, including Restaurant R365, QuickBooks Enterprise, and other financial management platforms.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures for accounting, budgeting, cash management, credit management, and financial operations.
• Establish processes designed to safeguard company assets and improve financial accountability.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify financial and operational risks and recommend appropriate controls and corrective actions.
• Support external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial advisors as needed.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
• Analyze actual results against budget and prior-period performance.
• Identify significant variances and develop recommendations for corrective action.
• Assist management in evaluating new business opportunities, investments, and expansion initiatives.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

• Oversee payroll processing and payroll-related accounting.
• Manage payroll tax reporting and related compliance requirements.
• Coordinate employee benefit administration and ensure accurate recording of benefit expenses.

Business Development & Strategic Support

• Partner with ownership and executive leadership in the development and implementation of new businesses.
• Evaluate the financial feasibility and operational impact of new business opportunities.
• Develop financial models, budgets, forecasts, and performance expectations for new ventures.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations and improve profitability.
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and business owners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Previous experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience managing accounting functions across multiple entities or business locations.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Experience with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience developing and implementing internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise or comparable accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to owners, executives, and operational management.
