The Role
In this leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality local history services, provide operational support to the team, and lead projects to enable the preservation and accessibility of the archive.
In this role you will:
- Lead and support the Local History team in the delivery of services and projects.
- Support and mentor staff to build capability and foster a collaborative team culture.
- Lead digitisation and archival projects to preserve and enable easy access to, the Local History collection.
- Provide assistance to community and Council to access the collection.
- Deliver responsive, high-quality, friendly and efficient services.
- As part of the Library Leadership Team, review, evaluate and plan library services appropriately, to cater for community needs and in line with Council's plans and objectives.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and provide excellent customer service
What you’ll bring
- University level qualification in Library and Information Studies, Museum and Archives or other relevant area.
- Demonstrated experience in digitising and cataloguing a local history collection including experience in working with digital data, and metadata within a repository or data system context.
- 1-2 years’ experience in local history / archives, project management and staff supervision, with proven capacity to lead and develop staff.
- Strong technical skills and a high level of digital literacy.
- Proven ability to embrace change and engage, lead and inspire others to achieve outcomes for the benefit of the organisation and community.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to deal with difficult customers.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with a flexible approach to work and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
- Current Working with Children Check.
