Entry Level Sales Representative- $20K Base Salary + Commission
Energy Advisor | Solar Sales Representative
Ethical Energy Solar
Full-Time | W-2 Employment | $20,000 Base Salary + Commission
Build a Career With One of Pennsylvania’s Leading Solar Companies
Ethical Energy Solar is looking for motivated, competitive, and people-focused professionals to join our team as Energy Advisors.
This is more than a traditional sales position. It is an opportunity to build a long-term career in one of the fastest-growing industries in the country while learning directly from some of the most experienced and successful professionals in solar.
This is an active, self-generating sales role. Energy Advisors are expected to create new business by knocking doors, canvassing neighborhoods, networking, requesting referrals, attending community events, and building relationships within their local markets. While company-generated opportunities may be available, the consistent self-generation of leads is a mandatory part of this position.
Ethical Energy is a vertically integrated Pennsylvania solar company. We manage the entire customer experience, including marketing, sales, system design, permitting, installation, and service. Our Energy Advisors are not selling for an unknown subcontractor. They are representing a respected local company with the people, experience, and infrastructure needed to support customers from the first conversation through installation and beyond.
Why Ethical Energy?
Ethical Energy Solar is:
The Official Solar Partner of Penn State Athletics
Recognized through Solar Power World’s Top Solar Contractors program
An Inc. 5000 company
One of the highest-rated and most-reviewed solar installers in Pennsylvania
A vertically integrated company with in-house sales, operations, installation, and service teams
Our Energy Advisors benefit from a strong brand, professional marketing, proven sales systems, and leadership with extensive experience in the solar industry.
You will receive hands-on training and ongoing coaching from professionals who have built successful careers in solar. Whether you already have sales experience or are looking for an opportunity to learn the industry, we will give you the tools, knowledge, and support needed to succeed.
Compensation and Benefits
$20,000 annual base salary
Competitive commission structure
W-2 employment
Company gas card
Health and employee benefits
401(k) retirement plan with company match
Professional sales training and ongoing coaching
Career advancement and leadership opportunities
Company-generated and self-generated sales opportunities
Access to industry-leading solar products and financing options
Your income is not limited to your base salary. Successful Energy Advisors have the opportunity to earn significantly more through performance-based commissions. The strongest performers consistently build their own pipeline through canvassing, referrals, networking, community involvement, and disciplined follow-up.
What You Will Do
As an Energy Advisor, you will help Pennsylvania homeowners understand whether solar energy is a good fit for their property and financial goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
Proactively knocking doors and canvassing residential neighborhoods
Generating your own leads through networking, referrals, events, community outreach, and personal relationships
Maintaining consistent self-generated prospecting activity
Building and managing a personal sales pipeline
Meeting with homeowners virtually and in person
Educating customers about solar energy, utility costs, available programs, and financing options
Reviewing customer energy usage and identifying potential savings
Presenting customized solar proposals
Building relationships with homeowners and earning their trust
Asking satisfied customers and community contacts for referrals
Following up consistently with prospective customers throughout the decision-making process
Participating in company events, neighborhood canvassing efforts, and community activations
Maintaining accurate customer information and activity in the company CRM
Working closely with sales leadership, operations, design, and customer service teams
Representing Ethical Energy professionally at all times
Self-Generation Expectations
Self-generation is a required part of the Energy Advisor position.
Energy Advisors must be willing to create opportunities instead of relying solely on company-provided appointments. This includes regularly knocking doors, canvassing neighborhoods, building referral relationships, networking within the community, attending events, and reaching out to personal and professional contacts.
Candidates should be comfortable initiating conversations with homeowners and consistently prospecting for new business. Applicants who are only interested in receiving pre-set appointments or working company-provided leads may not be a good fit for this role.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is confident, coachable, motivated, and comfortable speaking with new people.
Successful candidates will have:
A willingness to knock doors and canvass neighborhoods
The motivation to consistently generate their own leads
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence initiating conversations with homeowners
A professional and positive attitude
A willingness to learn and be coached
The ability to manage a sales pipeline and follow up consistently
Strong personal accountability and work ethic
The discipline to prospect even when immediate results are not guaranteed
Reliable transportation
A valid driver’s license
Basic computer and technology skills
The ability to work independently while contributing to a team
Previous solar, canvassing, door-to-door, or sales experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person who has the drive, professionalism, and discipline to succeed.
Learn From the Best in the Industry
Many solar sales positions provide a login, a script, and very little support. Ethical Energy takes a different approach.
Our Energy Advisors receive structured training, real-time coaching, and access to experienced leadership. You will learn how to prospect effectively, properly evaluate a homeowner’s needs, explain solar clearly, build trust, overcome objections, ask for referrals, and guide customers through one of the most important improvements they can make to their homes.
You will also have the advantage of representing a company with an established reputation, local installation crews, proven operational support, and a major partnership with Penn State Athletics.
Join Ethical Energy Solar
