Senior BWR Thermal‑Hydraulics Safety Engineer

What if a boiling water reactor experiences a Loss of Coolant Accident? How do models, correlations, and real plant configurations shape outcomes—and how do we prove it? At Westinghouse, you’ll turn those questions into actionable, defensible analyses that keep the world’s clean energy fleet safe.

Your mission

• Own design basis safety analyses for BWRs with emphasis on LOCA
• Translate plant drawings/specifications into validated analysis models
• Run proprietary system codes to produce high-confidence safety calculations
• Interrogate two‑phase flow and heat transfer phenomena to support conclusions
• Document results in clear, well-structured technical reports
• Serve as the point of contact for plant-specific LOCA inquiries (internal/external)
• Ensure analyses align with plant licensing bases and regulatory expectations
• Assess impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analyses

Who you are

• Bachelor’s in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
• 4+ years in the nuclear sector
• 4+ years of hands-on safety analysis experience

You should be proficient in: Engineering Degree

Where you’ll work

Choose remote work within the U.S. or a hybrid schedule in Cranberry Township, PA. You’ll report to the Manager, BWR Safety & Analysis and collaborate with experts across disciplines and sites.

Compensation

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
