What You'll Do
As a key member of the facilities team, you'll help ensure the reliable operation of critical campus infrastructure while maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers and related stationary engineer systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
- Read gauges, monitor system performance, and make operational adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, maintenance records, and equipment reports.
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Support repairs involving HVAC, plumbing systems, mechanical equipment, and basic building maintenance.
- Inspect equipment in elevated or confined spaces when required.
- Collaborate with facilities personnel and communicate system status clearly and professionally.
- Promote a strong culture of safety while following all applicable procedures and regulations.
- Support critical facility operations during emergencies and special situations.

Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience operating boilers or working as a Stationary Engineer.
- Working knowledge of boiler room operations and associated safety procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read gauges, monitor equipment performance, and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and perform maintenance activities throughout the facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- NIULPE Class 4 License (or willingness to obtain after hire with reimbursement assistance).
- Experience in educational, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or large commercial facilities.
- HVAC, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems experience.
- Maintenance technician or facilities maintenance experience.
- Familiarity with HVAC controls and EPA-related considerations.
The Environment
This position is based in a clean and professionally maintained facility supporting critical campus operations. You'll work with sophisticated mechanical systems while helping ensure a comfortable, safe environment for thousands of campus occupants.
Schedules may include:
- First Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- Second Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- Third Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Some weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency response coverage may be required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
