Activities Aide (Part-Time)
The Activity Aide supports the efforts of the Activity Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the overall patient population within the center.

Resident Rights:
- Know and respect patients’ rights.
- Ensure protected health information is kept confidential.
- Report complaints made by patients to supervisor.
- Report allegations of patient abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of patient property.
Safety and Sanitation:
- Follow established safety policies and procedures.
- Observe safety needs of patients as indicated in care plan; participate in restraint reduction program.
- Follow established infection control precautions and procedures.
- Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use.
- Demonstrate job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations.
Staff Development:
- Attend and participate in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings to maintain current certification as managed by regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Participate in QAA process as needed.
Activities Aide Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development and delivery of therapeutic recreational services to promote the patients’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
- Maintains precautions/limitations list on each patient.
- Encourages patient participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
- Assist in completing activity documentation, when needed, if trained and in conjunction with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Copy forms for activities, as needed.
- Submit supply list to Activity Director and submit receipt for activity expenditures.
- Assist Activity Director in the organization and supervision of the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
- Assist with patient Council Meetings when necessary.
- Assist in planning community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and patients.
- Assist in the completion of a monthly calendar of available recreational services and post it in the center.
- Perform any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
Education:
- High School Diploma with course work in recreation is desirable: completion of state approved activity-training course is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc., desired.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds; standing, walking, talking, hearing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, handling, feeling, pushing, fingering, and exerting force to move objects.
Working Conditions:
- Both inside and outside with some exposure to disagreeable conditions including odor and infection.
Principal Contacts:
- Work closely with patients, family members, volunteers, center staff, and community representatives.
