Job Title: BOM AnalystJob Description

The BOM Analyst will play a pivotal role in a high-priority, company-wide initiative to convert product formulas across the entire portfolio to natural color ingredients. This is a large-scale, fast-paced program spanning multiple brands and product lines, requiring the analyst to create and manage a high volume of new raw material parts, finished good BOMs, and engineering change orders (ECOs/ECNs) with speed and accuracy. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and set up new raw material parts in the item master system for natural color ingredients replacing synthetic dyes and artificial colorants.

  • Ensure all new items are fully configured with accurate attributes.

  • Coordinate with Quality and R&D to validate specifications prior to part creation.

  • Maintain data integrity and naming convention standards across all newly created items.

  • Create BOM Kick-off document that contains all information required to build the final BOM.

  • Build new formulation BOMs and update existing BOMs to reflect natural color substitutions across all affected SKUs.

  • Validate BOM accuracy against approved BOM Kickoff documents reviewed by team.

  • Perform ongoing data cleanup throughout the conversion process.

  • Ensure BOM effectivity dates, quantities, and component relationships are correctly captured for each conversion.

  • Perform BOM audits to confirm all converted products are fully updated and no legacy synthetic color components remain active.

  • Initiate, track, and manage a high volume of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) related to the natural colors conversion program.

  • Monitor change order queues to ensure timely progression through each approval stage and escalate bottlenecks as needed.

  • Serve as the central point of contact for BOM and change order status across the natural colors program.

  • Participate in regularly scheduled project meetings providing updates on BOM completions, open change orders, and anything else that requires updates.

  • Flag and resolve discrepancies between approved BOM Kick Off doc and system data in a timely manner.

  • Generate and distribute BOM Explosion reports of every product to all contract manufacturers upon BOM approval, providing full visibility into the multi-level component structure required for production.

  • Generate regular status reports for program leadership showing completion rates by brand, product line, or phase.

  • Document standard operating procedures for the BOM and change order workflows established during this initiative.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in BOM management, master data management, item master administration, or a related data/operations role.

  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing a high volume of parts, BOMs, and change orders in an ERP or PLM system (e.g., Oracle EBS, SAP, Agile, Arena).

  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, component relationships, and effectivity management.

  • Proven ability to manage large workloads with competing deadlines while maintaining high data accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with R&D, Packaging, Quality, PM, and Supply Chain teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in CPG, food & beverage, personal care, or a regulated industry where formula and ingredient management is central to operations.

  • Experience supporting a large-scale, portfolio-wide product conversion or reformulation program.

  • Knowledge of change management workflows and approval routing in PLM (Autodesk or Agile) or ERP (Oracle or NetSuite) environments.

  • Proficiency in Excel or similar tools for program tracking and reporting.
