FAMILY MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

About the Clinic for Special Children: Since 1989, the Clinic for Special Children (CSC) has served as a comprehensive medical clinic for children and adults with genetic disorders. The majority of CSC patients are uninsured, live in agrarian settings, and are of Old Order Amish or Mennonite (Plain) ancestry. The CSC cultivates special interest and expertise in genetic disorders of the Plain people and the provision of care to underserved populations. The Clinic is committed to providing innovative, culturally competent, personalized medical care across the lifespan, which requires close communication and collaboration among its clinical, laboratory, and research teams.

Position Summary: Physicians work as a member of the clinical team to evaluate, diagnose, and treat outpatients at CSC and its outreach locations, serve as attending physician to CSC inpatients at Lancaster General Hospital, carefully document all medical encounters and treatment plans in electronic medical record and participate in the Clinics research mission by helping to design, lead, execute, and author original research studies.

CSC is a low-volume, high-complexity clinic. Physicians often see fewer than 10 patients per day with the average patient visit lasting 1 hour. This position participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation 1 week out of every 5.

Minimum Requirements to apply:

• MD or DO degree with completed residency in family practice.
• Board certification or eligibility in family medicine.
  
• Active, unrestricted PA State License.
• Active DEA license.
