Safety Intern

Position Overview
The Safety Intern will work for approximately 10-16 weeks at Pennsy Supply, Inc. to integrate the education received from a college and/or university to the company’s objectives. The Intern will be exposed to a variety of departments and work environments during the internship. This will involve travel to and between various plants in Pennsy Supply’s Harrisburg, PA market region.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Safety is a core value and your first focus area! As a member of our Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team, we need you to maintain strict adherence to all our EHS policies. You will learn the different rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT/DEP and Pennsy Supply, Inc. in the early days of your internship.
- Provide coordination and supportive duties for the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, initiatives, and training.
- Conduct inspections at construction, mining, and plant sites to identify hazards and develop corrective actions alongside EHS and operations personnel.
- Perform event learning alongside EHS and operations personnel to determine the contributing factors, and corrective actions to prevent similar future incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance.
Education/Experience
- Environmental Health Safety related major pursuing a bachelors degree (Junior or Senior Preferred)
- Desired 3.0 GPA or higher
- Knowledge of MSHA, and/or OSHA’s General Industry and Construction regulations.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word and Excel
General Requirements
- Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations
- Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check
- Ability to travel with a current driver's license.
