DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER: Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region. Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.

SUMMARY: The Warehouse Operations Trainer has a general responsibility to participate in coordinating and executing all warehouse training activities. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for overseeing new hire training, remedial post-accident/incident training, annual compliance training in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

WAREHOUSE TRAINER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Deliver structured onboarding and hands‑on training for new warehouse associates, including receiving, put‑away, picking, loading, replenishment, sanitation, and equipment operation.

· Train employees on company standard operating procedures (SOPs), food safety protocols, temperature‑controlled handling, inventory integrity, and workplace safety requirements.

· Conduct refresher training and upskilling for existing employees as processes, technology, or equipment evolve.

· Evaluate trainee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and corrective instruction to ensure mastery of required competencies.

· Train staff on safe and effective operation of warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks, and other material‑handling equipment (MHE).

· Demonstrate proper usage of warehouse technology systems including RF scanners, voice‑picking, warehouse management systems (WMS), and related applications.

· Ensure employees understand proper product rotation (FIFO), slotting practices, temperature control procedures, and damage‑prevention methods.

· Support operational leaders by identifying training gaps affecting accuracy, productivity, and service levels.

· Promote and enforce compliance with OSHA guidelines, facility safety rules, PPE requirements, and accident‑prevention procedures.

· Train staff on food safety standards including HACCP principles, allergen control, cross‑contamination prevention, cold‑chain integrity, and sanitation requirements.

· Participate in safety audits, food safety inspections, and internal compliance reviews; follow up on corrective actions through targeted training.

· Maintain thorough documentation of training activities for regulatory and audit purposes.

· Observe employee work habits and provide coaching to maintain adherence to productivity, accuracy, and quality benchmarks.

· Conduct post‑training performance assessments to validate skill levels and identify employees needing additional support.

· Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to training effectiveness—such as pick accuracy, damage rates, safety incidents, and retention during onboarding periods.

· Partner with warehouse leadership, HR, and safety teams to develop and update training programs and SOPs.

· Communicate clearly and professionally with employees across all departments and shifts.

· Assist supervisors and managers with rollout of new processes, equipment, technology, or layout changes, ensuring employees receive timely instruction.

· Maintain and update training materials, checklists, job aids, visual guides, and evaluation forms.

· Help design new training modules to support operational changes, continuous improvement initiatives, or regulatory updates.

· Maintain accurate training records in accordance with company policy and industry regulations.

· Support operational tasks as needed during peak demand or staffing shortages.

· Participate in cross‑functional projects that improve warehouse efficiency, safety, and employee development.

· Performs other duties as assigned by management.

WAREHOUSE TRAINER SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Ability to deliver clear, effective hands‑on training and classroom instruction.

· Skilled at breaking down complex processes into simple, teachable steps.

· Strong coaching and mentoring abilities to support employees at all skill levels.

· Competence in developing or updating training materials, SOPs, and job aids.

· Deep understanding of distribution workflows: receiving, put‑away, picking, loading, replenishment, slotting, and inventory control.

· Knowledge of food distribution handling practices, including FIFO rotation, Cold‑chain requirements, Allergen separation

· Skilled in operating and training others on material‑handling equipment (MHE): pallet jacks, forklifts, reach trucks, etc.

· Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.

· Knowledge of HACCP principles, sanitation practices, and food safety compliance.

· Ability to train employees on PPE, equipment safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.

· Able to maintain accurate documentation for audits and compliance reviews.

· Proficiency with warehouse technology such as: RF scanners, Voice‑picking systems, Warehouse Management Systems

· Ability to quickly learn new systems and train others effectively.

· Basic data entry and documentation skills.

· Strong verbal communication for teaching, coaching, and giving feedback.

· Clear, concise written communication for training records and materials.

· Ability to build trust and work collaboratively with employees, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams.

· Skilled at managing diverse learning styles and personalities.

· Ability to observe work processes and identify skill gaps or training needs.

· Strong troubleshooting skills for operational issues, equipment misuse, or process deviations.

· Competence in evaluating employee performance and implementing targeted coaching.

· Ability to coordinate training around production needs and staffing levels.

· Skilled at managing multiple trainees, schedules, and development plans at once.

· Strong follow‑through to ensure training completion, documentation, and practical evaluations.

WAREHOUSE TRAINER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Capability to work in all warehouse environments, including freezer, cooler, dry areas, and including tight and confined spaces. Temperatures ranging from –10 degrees F to 90 degrees F.

· Ability to demonstrate physical tasks such as lifting, operating equipment, and navigating warehouse racks.

· Stamina to remain on feet for extended periods during training sessions.

· Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 100 pounds.

· Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust.

· Operating machinery and/or power tools / Operating motor vehicles and powered industrial equipment.
