What will I do in this role? Strategic Leadership & Campus Culture
- Co‑create with the Dean of Students a vision for a dynamic, student‑centered Campus Life ecosystem that reflects the College’s liberal arts mission.
- Serve as a key architect, along with the Dean of Students, of campus culture—strengthening belonging, engagement, and well‑being through integrated residential, engagement, and conduct strategies.
- Champion an environment that honors diverse identities, encourages self‑authorship, and supports the holistic development of all students.
- Supervise the Assistant Directors of Campus Life & Residential Living and the Assistant Director of Campus Life & Student Engagement, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students to support recruitment, training, and mentoring Campus Life professional and student staff, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for Fraternity & Sorority Life, including chapter operations, community development, risk management, and leadership training.
- Support and advise governing councils and chapter leadership, fostering a values‑based fraternity/sorority community that contributes positively to campus culture.
- Collaborate with alumni advisors, national headquarters, and campus partners to ensure compliance, student safety, inclusive practices, and organizational development.
- Align FSL initiatives with Campus Life goals related to belonging, leadership, and community engagement.
- Participate in the campus‑wide after‑hours and weekend on‑call duty rotation, providing high‑level leadership during crises involving mental health, alcohol/drug incidents, interpersonal conflicts, and emergency responses when needed.
- Provide guidance and support to professional and student staff responding to incidents; ensure timely and appropriate follow‑up.
- Maintain a live‑in presence within campus housing, fostering visibility, approachability, community connection, and rapid response to student needs.
- Serve as a campus leader during emergencies, coordinating with Public Safety and College administration as needed.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students and the Campus Life team on assessment efforts related to Residential Living, Community Standards, FYE, and Student Engagement to inform decision‑making and strategic improvements.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students on policy development, review, and communication to ensure clarity, accessibility, and consistent application across the student experience.
- Utilize data-driven insights to propose student initiatives, supports, and programs that support retention, student satisfaction, and learning outcomes.
- Serve on institutional committees, task forces, and cross-divisional working groups related to student success, belonging, wellness, and campus planning.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to support a vibrant campus culture.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs, Counseling, Public Administration, or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs, with demonstrated leadership in at least two of the following: residential life, housing, student conduct, community standards, student engagement, or FYE.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing complex departmental operations.
- Strong crisis management skills, with experience in on‑call leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and identity‑aware leadership.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check annually in compliance with the College’s insurance regulation requirements and the ability to operate campus safety vehicles.
- Successful completion of ACT 153 Clearances.
- Experience in liberal arts college settings.
- Experience with restorative practices, mediation, or conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with housing, conduct, and engagement software platforms.
- Training in trauma-informed care or student development theory.
