Director, Community School Implementation

UWGLV's growth in Community Schools allows us to add a 3rd Director of CS Implementation to the team. This role offers strategic leadership, supervision, and on-site technical assistance to Community School Coordinators (CSCs) and Activities Coordinators (ACs) across multiple schools in the United Way Community School Network. This role supports the implementation and alignment of the Community School model to ensure high-quality service delivery, improve student outcomes, and strengthen school-community partnerships.

The Community School Director supervises a team of 7-10 CSCs and provides technical support to 12-15 schools in the CS Network with CSC s employed via lead partners. By fostering best practices, leveraging data-driven insights, and delivering hands-on assistance, the Director ensures fidelity to the Community School model and helps maintain alignment with both local and national strategies for community school success.

Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Support (40%)

  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and professional development for CSCs directly employed by the United Way or by lead partners.

  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations of CSC performance in collaboration with lead partners and school principals at assigned sites.
  • Ensure CSCs adhere to defined skillsets and performance standards set by the United Way Community School Network.
  • Mentor CSCs on their transition from executors to strategic coordinators, emphasizing the importance of guiding teams and leveraging data for decision-making.

2. Onsite Technical Assistance & Quality Assurance (40%)

  • Customized Support: Provide specialized, site-specific technical assistance to schools, ensuring alignment with the Community School model.

  • Strategic Planning: Facilitate annual Community School Asset and Needs Assessments, analyzing data to guide data-informed decisions and tailored plans for each school.

  • Partner Optimization: Guide CSCs in creating strategic goals and measurable outcomes for school programs via partners, focusing on coordination rather than direct execution.

  • Onboarding and Transitions: Oversee onboarding of new CSCs, principals, and key stakeholders, ensuring smooth integration into the Community School model. Develop and implement transition plans when personnel changes occur.

  • Funding Guidance: Provide direction on the optimal use of implementation funds for innovative and impactful programs.

  • Quality Monitoring: Conduct reviews of school-specific MOUs and evaluate the impact of strategies at assigned schools. Ensure fidelity to model implementation.

3. Resource Management & Partnership Development (10%)

  • Manage program budgets and oversee funding allocations for sites under direct supervision, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Support CSCs in aligning resources strategically to maximize program outcomes.

  • Collaborate with community partners to identify and secure resources, such as grants, donations, and funding opportunities, to enhance school initiatives.

4. Professional Development (10%)

  • Participate in and share evidence-based best practices and stay informed of emerging trends at state and national levels to continually improve school outcomes.

Requirements
3 or more years of work experience in a range of the following: education, social work or community development
3 or more years of professional work experience supervising employees.
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public administration or related field.
Able to secure child abuse clearances
Not related to a current UWGLV employee
Happy to work in person at the UWGLV office in Allentown, PA and able to provide own transportation (with reimbursement) to schools in Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon Counties on a regular basis.
