Nutrition Education Assistant

The Nutrition Education Assistant works under the supervision of the NEP Project Manager to provide nutrition and wellness education to Fayette County with specific focus on benefit eligible communities (Seniors, SNAP recipients, pre-schools, after-school programs, etc.) This role provides nutrition and wellness programs to eligible sites and participants. The position works with the Project Manager to coordinate and deliver community outreach programs. This involves creating schedules, plans, and programs based on funder objectives, program goals, and community need. The Nutrition Education Assistant also coordinates with community agencies and facilities (Community Centers, Senior Centers, Senior High Rises, Adult Training Facilities, Head Start Programs, Preschools, After-School Programs, Libraries, Public Housing Sites and other similar facilities) to deliver on-site programs. Additional duties include coordinating with community foodbanks, Shop Thru and the central foodbank warehouse to develop a monthly nutrition newsletter (with emphasis on distributed food items) and working with area retailers to promote healthy food choices. The ideal candidate for this role will have an associate's degree in nutrition, education, or a closely related field (or equivalent combination of experience and training). Candidates should also have experience planning and delivering nutrition and wellness education programs and conducting outreach activities. The ability to present to large groups is a must for this role!
