Balter Company is a Maryland‐based, second‐generation woman‐owned, multi‐discipline geotechnical and environmental consulting firm with over 60 years of practice, serving market sectors that include aviation, water and wastewater, transportation and civil infrastructure, high‐profile developments, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Dams, and a wide range of federal, state, and local governmental agencies. Balter is looking for a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer ready to take on project management responsibilities—and who’s excited to help shape our business development strategy as we expand our existing client base and service offerings in the Mid-Atlantic Region, as well as into new markets.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage geotechnical projects from proposal to completion, ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction, and budget discipline.

• Conduct and oversee geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and related systems.

• Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and budgets.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, problem-solving, and

responsiveness.

• Partner with leadership on business development initiatives—identifying new opportunities, crafting pursuits, and contributing to our growth strategy.

• Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of quality, teamwork, and professional development.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain MD PE within 6 months).

• 6–12 years of relevant geotechnical and project management experience.

• Strong technical foundation and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.

• Excellent communication and proposal writing skills.

• Experience in business development, client relations, or strategic marketing.
