Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church is seeking a person who identifies with this culture and these values to take responsibility for nurturing and leading youth specific ministries (Grade 6-12). This person will be highly relational and detail oriented – able to effectively communicate to students, parents, and the congregation at large. We are looking for a person who will lead out of a place of their own discipleship with Jesus, with gifts that help others do the same.

Time: Full time salaried position, 40 hrs/wk baseline

Specific Responsibilities

• Articulate and implement vision and pathways of discipleship and spiritual formation for the youth of LBIC that honors the dispositions, learning styles, and life experience of each student
• Lead, organize, and delegate youth specific ministries – including Sunday School, Youth Group Nights, Retreats, Events, and Serving Opportunities, etc.
• Develop, recruit, lead and empower groups of volunteers to serve in the ministry– this will include written communications, clarifying roles and expectations, and equipping volunteer leaders with what they need to be successful
• Provide regular and clear communication to youth, parents, other staff, and the larger church
• Administration – scheduling and planning; keep Safe Church records, form and administrate youth-specific budgets
• Integrate youth into the larger life of the church through coordination with other pastors/ministries and events and opportunities throughout the church year
• Provide pastoral care to youth and their families
• Participate and contribute to staff conversations providing insight and direction into the larger life of the church – also regularly participating in the larger life of the church

The following characteristics will be necessary for this role, specific to the culture and character of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church:

• Highly relational – relationship driven over program driven
• Self-Starter – able to work independently and complete tasks without monitoring
• Good communication – written and verbal
• High administrative capabilities a must

Requirements

• Significant volunteer or staff experience leading a youth ministry; educational degree in ministry preferred but not required
• Updated mandatory clearances
• Participate in BIC Atlantic Conference Cluster group and all conference gatherings
• Will complete a “This I Believe” questionnaire as part of the interview process to determine theological compatibility
• Upon hire, will complete the four Core Courses of the Brethren in Christ Church within 3 years; will complete the BIC Directed Study program for ordination if an appropriate degree is not already possessed
