Development assistant
NOVA (Network of Victim Assistance) is a comprehensive victim services organization in Bucks County. With a 50+-year history, NOVA has expanded to include a continuum of prevention and direct services to prevent and address the needs of victims of sexual abuse and other serious crimes. NOVA is known for its exceptional services and professionalism across many disciplines and the community. POSITION SUMMARY
This role reports directly to the Director of Development. They will administer the overall database in Raiser’s Edge, which includes gift entry, generation of acknowledgement letters, pledge reminders, and other data reporting duties for the department. In addition, they will keep the development department organized with all private grants, by maintaining a grants calendar, and searching for new grants, while ensuring timely completion. When suitable they will collaborate with each submission. The ideal candidate will proactively research donors as it relates to ongoing cultivation and stewardship efforts, which will result in direct donor communications. They will ensure accuracy and timeliness in their role, while developing new processes, systems, and procedures to advance the departments success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Database Operations
- Manages all aspects of the database including posting/acknowledging gifts, updating records, generating reports, analyzing data, and performing database clean-up.
- Collaborates with the Development team with all ongoing fundraising activities and initiatives.
- Performs research on gifts received in an effort to support ongoing cultivation and stewardship strategy.
- Tracks and reports to the Director of Development on fundraising progress and donor trends.
- Maintains current and accurate records in Raiser’s Edge.
Grants
- Organizes and monitors the annual calendar of grant proposal submissions and reporting.
- Assists with searching for grants using various tools and online portals.
- Responsible for keeping relevant staff informed of pending deadlines and proposal/reporting needs to ensure timely preparation and submission of grants and reports.
- Ensures that the supporting materials for grants are kept up to date in the grants folder and assists in compiling these materials to ensure the timely submission of grant proposals.
- Works alongside the Director of Development to complete grant submissions.
General Development Support
- Provides general support to the department as required.
- Assists in the coordination of general donor relation activities and mailings.
- Responds to donor inquiries as required.
- Assist with special events as part of the Development team.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of training, education, and/or experience.
- CRM Software experience is required (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
- All development staff required to work at events or on other projects as needed.
- Passion for NOVA
- High attention to detail and administrative excellence.
- Knowledge of Grant Databases and philanthropic landscape preferred.
- Ability to communicate with diverse groups including staff, community professionals, volunteers, Board members, funders, and donors.
- NOVA may require employees to participate in drug testing
- Proficiency with Office 365
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Must meet all required background checks (criminal, FBI, child abuse) at hire and every five years after that
- Must provide proof of a valid driver’s license
- Must provide proof of valid car insurance with a minimum liability coverage of $100,000/$300,000 upon hire and biannually after that
