Full-Time, Direct Hire / Permanent

Base Salary: Up to $115,000 depending on location and experience, plus benefits

Schedule: Full-time M–F | Remote | Standard 40-hour workweek | No billable hours

Experience Level: 5–10 years workers’ compensation defense paralegal experience

A national commercial insurer is hiring a senior Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support carrier-side workers’ compensation matters across multiple states. This is a fully remote, permanent opportunity where you will own key litigation support workflows, conduct independent research, coordinate with outside counsel, and help strengthen templates and process as the team grows. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with legal professionals and claims teams, ensuring efficient case management and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, legal expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote working environment.

Responsibilities:

• Draft, file, and oversee workers' compensation pleadings, discovery documents, and subpoena responses across various jurisdictions.

• Conduct independent legal research and provide concise written analyses to support attorneys and claims professionals.

• Coordinate document productions, track hearing schedules, monitor deadlines, and maintain accurate litigation records.

• Manage relationships with outside counsel and vendors, supporting their intake and engagement for workers' compensation matters.

• Collaborate with attorneys and claims teams to anticipate case needs and ensure efficient case progression.

• Develop and refine templates, checklists, and workflows to enhance consistency and accuracy in legal processes.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members as they integrate into the group.

• Monitor and report on litigation metrics to ensure compliance and performance targets are met.

• Support the improvement of streamlined processes for legal and administrative tasks.

• Minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a paralegal in workers’ compensation defense, supporting carriers, staff counsel, or defense firms.
• Proficiency in legal research and writing, with recent experience using Westlaw.
• Familiarity with multi-state workers' compensation cases and ability to manage priorities across jurisdictions.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively in a remote setting.
• Associate degree required; paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating with outside counsel and vendors for legal matters.
• Background in managing workers’ compensation pleadings, discovery, and litigation reporting.
• Preferred experience in corporate legal settings, particularly in insurance defense litigation.
