Position Summary:

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and vendors at Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists. This role is responsible for creating a professional, welcoming, and patient-focused experience while supporting the daily administrative operations of the office.

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist manages patient check-in and check-out processes, answers incoming phone calls, schedules appointments, collects patient information and payments, and assists with maintaining efficient front office workflows. This position plays an important role in ensuring patients receive excellent customer service and support throughout their visit.

The Front Desk Medical Receptionist works closely with physicians, clinical staff, and office leadership to help maintain smooth office operations and a positive patient experience across all BCOS office locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and vendors professionally and courteously.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes accurately and efficiently.
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls while providing accurate information and assistance.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with maintaining provider schedules.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information and update records within the electronic medical record (EHR) system. Experience with EPIC is REQUIRED
  • Collect patient payments, co-pays, and required documentation during the registration process.
  • Assist patients with forms, referrals, and general office-related questions.
  • Maintain organized front desk operations and ensure reception areas remain clean and professional.
  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, clinical staff, and other departments as needed.
  • Support scanning, filing, faxing, and other administrative office duties.
  • Assist with maintaining office supply inventory for front desk operations.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Support a positive, team-oriented, and patient-focused office environment.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical office, front desk, or customer service role preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of medical office workflows, scheduling systems, and EHR systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office equipment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
