Group Leader (Howe):
Summary:
To facilitate and coordinate Girls. Inc’s Out-of-School Time (OST) Program, funded by the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families, for girls and boys at Julia Ward Howe Elementary (Joseph Pennell Elementary during the summer).
General Responsibilities:
Program Implementation
- Facilitate Out of School Time programs, Monday-Friday; 2:00-6:00PM (academic year) and 8 AM-4:30 PM (summer), which ensures that participants receive quality programs that meet their developmental needs and is culturally appropriate.
- Facilitate daily check-in process.
- Maintain and implement program safety standards that promote and protect the physical and emotional safety of students.
- Establish a positive rapport and create a safe engaging learning environment for all participants. Ensure that all youth feel welcome and engaged in the program.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute special events and projects, including the implementation of workshops, field trips, procurement of guest speakers, and organizing family engagement sessions.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Develop and implement a regular communication plan for families, teachers, and volunteers.
- Communicate with teachers of assigned cohort to identify any social emotional needs and provide proactive and responsive.
- Provides support during brain break block and as needed.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Provide constructive feedback to participants’ progress and encourage academic excellence.
- Collect and track program data including demographics, pre- and post-surveys, and feedback forms.
- Discuss with program team to identify areas for program support, growth, and expansion.
Professional Development
- Participate in all Office of Children and Families (OCF) trainings, in person and virtually, as required.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Pursuing an associate's or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or a related human services field.
- Two or more years of experience working with a diverse population of students, preferably in a school setting.
- Must be able to work after school (2:00-6:00PM) and up to 40 hours/week during summer.
- Bilingual: Haitian/ Creole a plus
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must submit up-to-date clearances (FBI criminal, Child Abuse History Verification, State criminal and National Sex Offender Verification).
Hours per Week: Between 10-20 hours (Academic Year) and 20-40 hours (Summer)
Work Schedule: M-F
LOCATION:
Must be able to commute to school-based locations as required.
Pay Transparency:
The pay rate for this position is $20/hour. Part-time employees are eligible for paid sick leave.
