Position Information Posting Number S01537 Position Title Mail Service Clerk Working Title Mail Service Clerk Position Number Position Type Non-exempt Division and Department Information Division Finance and Administration Department Facilities Management Posting Information Job Summary/Basic Function The primary purpose of this position is to effectively provide efficient Mail Services to the College community. Essential functions:
  • Knowledge of Operating a computer. Responsible for traveling to and from the US post office to retrieve and deliver mail/packages. Will be responsible for the accurate and expedient sorting of all incoming letter mail for the campus community. Interacts in a professional and customer-friendly manner with members of the Dickinson community and outside vendors/customers concerning mailing processes and procedures.
  • Utilizes a computer in the preparation of outbound mail and package shipments, including but not limited to USPS mailings, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, for domestic and international shipping. Utilizes the BRYNKA, tracking system, for shipping and verifying, receiving, and processing all USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and all private carriers for the appropriate location. Will operate the Smart Postage meter perform routine cleaning and troubleshoot any maintenance concerns. Completes payment transactions on the POS terminal.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate data and sending monthly reports to the mail room manager. Primary inventory recorder, maintains shipping supplies ensuring items are stocked; reporting to mail room manager when supplies are getting low. Responsible for reconciling FAS purchasing card.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills maintaining the ability to coordinate and work with others. Collaborates with department team, demonstrating flexibility and versatility to meet the ever-changing environment. Maintains strict confidentiality of learning information and reports concerns to the Mail Service Manager. Understands and appropriately shares Mail Service operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat/clean work environment. Responsible for weekly van maintenance, submitting a work order for any vehicle maintenance that may need to be completed. Report any maintenance issues seen on campus.
  • Maintains current knowledge and assists in all aspects of the mail center.
  • Other Duties: Willingness to be crossed trained to assist in all aspects of the mail center.
Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Knowledge and ability to use a computer including Microsoft Office. Less than 12 months experience A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator's license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. Yes Successful candidate will also be required to complete ACT 153 Clearance No This position is considered "Emergency Staff." As such they may be required to report to work even when the college is closed or is operating under a delayed start. No Physical Demands
  • Extreme Cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for more than 1 hour.
  • Extreme Heat: Temperatures about 100 degrees for more than an hour.
  • Lifting ranges from less than 10 lbs to over 50 lbs
