HVAC Service Technician

Residential & Light Commercial • Affordable Fixes Heating Cooling Plumbing • Southampton, PA • $30-$45/hr + $5K Retention Bonus

You're already a great HVAC tech. The shop you work for is the problem.

You're the tech who actually tracks your numbers.. average ticket, close rate, calls per day.. because the numbers tell you whether you're getting better. You listen to the HVAC sales podcasts between jobs. You read the manual when the diag doesn't add up. You make your bed in the morning. You take pride in the work, and you can feel yourself getting sharper month over month.

And you're frustrated.

Not because you can't run service. You can. You're frustrated because:

  • You're stuck on a flat hourly wage while your tickets and your close rate carry the board, and the slow guy two trucks over gets paid the same.

  • The shop celebrates "having a solid week" while you know everybody left thousands on the table, including you, on calls where the dispatch, the tools, or the trainer should've set you up better.

  • Your team doesn't share your wiring. You want to compare close rates. They want to compare PTO. You want to win. They just don't want to get yelled at.

  • Dispatch is a mess. Half your day gets eaten driving back for a part, fixing somebody else's sloppy install, or eating a callback that was never your job in the first place.

  • Training is whatever you can scrape together on your own time on YouTube. Your shop hasn't invested a dollar in making you better in years, but they expect you to keep producing like they have.

  • There's a path to senior tech, lead, even into ops or management.. and the shop talks about it once a year at the holiday party and then forgets.

You don't want easier. You want the drag lifted so you can finally find out what you produce at when the shop around you actually pulls its weight.

That's the seat we built.

Who we're looking for

The honest answer: a highly engaged tech.

If you don't know what that means, you're probably not it. If you do, you already feel the difference between you and the guys around you.

A highly engaged tech tracks his own KPIs because he cares about getting better, not because somebody's making him. He carries milk bones in his truck for the dog because he cares about the customer. He listens to the podcast on the way to the next call because the work itself is interesting to him. He runs the extra check, redoes the sloppy braze, takes the harder diag, because being average makes his skin crawl.

He's not the oldest guy on the board who's seen it all and stopped caring. He's not the warranty tech doing eight $85 calls a day with no pride in any of them. He's the guy whose head is in the game, whose pride shows up in his work, who treats the customer like a person and the trade like a craft.

He doesn't need to be young. He needs to be hungry. Engaged. Bought in.

If that's you, you already know it. Keep reading.

How we're different

This seat is for HVAC techs who give a damn about the craft and want a shop that gives a damn back.

Most shops will pay you a flat hourly and use the margin to subsidize the techs who shouldn't be on a truck. We don't run it that way. Top performers in this seat earn $45/hr because they earn it, ticket by ticket, week by week, on real residential and light commercial work that pays real dollars.

You'll get steady, year-round service work. Calls dispatched cleanly. Trucks stocked the way they should be stocked. Office and ops staff who clear runway for you instead of cleaning up after a guy across town. Real coaching. Real training. A real path to grow.

And you'll work next to techs who care. Not coasters. Not warranty-guys riding out a paycheck. Techs who keep their numbers, present options the right way, and take pride in the truck they pull up in.

The investment we make in our techs

Most shops will tell you they train. Almost none of them actually do.

Here's what training at Affordable Fixes actually looks like:

  • Real technical training, on the clock . Diagnostic, mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, controls, IAQ. The stuff that makes you faster and sharper on the truck, not a PowerPoint somebody mailed it in on.

  • Sales and communication coaching . How to walk a homeowner through what's happening in their system. How to present options without strong-arming. How to handle the objection that kills the deal. The techs who can do this clear $45/hr. The ones who can't get stuck.

  • Ride-alongs with the best on the team . Sometimes you learn more from one day next to a great tech than a month of solo calls. We make sure you get that time.

  • Ongoing certifications and manufacturer training . EPA, NATE, brand-specific training. If you want it, we'll back it.

  • A clear path to senior tech, lead, install supervisor, or ops . Not a vague "opportunity for advancement" line. A real ladder, and we'll tell you what each rung requires.

If you're the kind of tech who's been getting better in spite of your shop, imagine what happens when the shop is actually pushing you.

About Affordable Fixes

We run residential and light commercial HVAC service across Southampton and the surrounding area. Owner-operated. The people running the shop work in it. They know what a hard call looks like, what a sloppy install costs, and what a great tech is worth.

We invest in the techs who invest in themselves. We honor what our techs sell. We hold the line on quality because callbacks are our problem, not the customer's. And we pay the people who perform.

What we value in this seat

Obsession with the craft. You track your own numbers because you want to know if you're improving. You watch your own work and look for the leak in your process. You read, listen, and rep on your own time because being average makes your skin crawl.

A communicator, not just a tech. You can walk a homeowner through what's happening in their system, give them real options, and let them choose the right path. You don't strong-arm. You don't pressure. You diagnose, you explain, and you let the truth do the work. Most techs can't do this. The ones who can run circles around the board.

Real diagnostic ability. You can find the problem when the gauges lie. You don't parts-swap your way through a call. You can defend why you replaced what you replaced.

A career mindset. You're not looking for a stop. You're looking for a place to build. You want training, mentorship, and a real path.. senior tech, lead, install supervisor, ops, whatever fits where you're trying to go. You'll earn it. We'll back it.

Comfortable in the systems. You've run a dispatch CRM.. ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Zip Solutions, or equivalent. You can update a ticket. You can document a call. You don't fight the technology.

Work ethic to match the ambition. Full days. Rotating Saturdays in the mix. You're not disappearing at 2 PM because you hit a number. You stay sharp because the next call is somebody's emergency.

Low ego, high ownership. When a call goes sideways, you own it. You don't blame the customer, the part, the dispatcher, or the weather. You fix it and you get better.

What you'll do

  • Run residential and light commercial service calls across Southampton and surrounding areas (roughly a 30 to 45 minute radius)

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, and IAQ systems

  • Run preventative maintenance and system inspections with real diagnostic rigor

  • Present clean options to homeowners.. explain what's happening, what's needed, and what it costs, without pressure tactics

  • Track your own KPIs.. average ticket, close rate, calls per day.. and own them

  • Keep the truck, the ticket, and the job site clean

  • Communicate cleanly with dispatch, customers, and the team

  • Hold the line on quality. Callbacks aren't part of this seat.

What we offer you

Pay that rewards production. $30 to $45/hr based on experience, with performance-based bonus opportunities on top.

A $5,000 retention bonus. $2,500 at 90 days, $2,500 at one year. Real money for techs who show up and produce.

Benefits that actually matter. Medical, dental, and vision. PTO and paid holidays. 401(k) with company support. Company truck. Fuel card. Uniforms. Tools and equipment.

Real training and development, on the clock. Technical, diagnostic, communication, and sales coaching. Ride-alongs with the best on the team. Certifications backed. A real path into senior tech and leadership.

Dispatch and ops that back you up. Organized scheduling. Modern dispatch. Steady, year-round work. Trucks stocked. The shop runs the way it should so you can focus on your craft.

Owners who work the business. Decisions get made by people who know HVAC. No outside agendas. No comp plans flipping overnight. The shop runs the way owners who give a damn run it.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Rotating Saturdays. Overtime available. No Sundays.

This Role Is For You If:

You're already a strong HVAC service tech and you're tired of being paid like an average one. You can run residential service and handle light commercial when it comes up. You can communicate with a homeowner and present options the right way. You track your numbers because you want to know how you're doing. You're looking for a shop that will actually invest in you and a path to grow into. You'd rather earn $45/hr on a shop that backs you than coast at $30/hr on a shop that doesn't.

This Is Not For You If:

You need a guaranteed flat hourly no matter what your tickets look like. You hate presenting options. You parts-swap your way through diagnostics. You job-hop every 12 months. You've spent the last several years doing home warranty work at $85 a call and you're not interested in changing how you operate. You don't want to learn new software or pick up new skills.

  • 6+ years of HVAC service experience preferred (residential primary, light commercial a plus)

  • EPA Certification required

  • Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting ability, mechanical and electrical

  • Comfortable presenting options and closing tickets professionally

  • Experience using a dispatch CRM (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Zip Solutions, or equivalent)

  • Comfortable tracking and reporting your own KPIs, average ticket, close rate, calls per day

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Able to pass a background and drug screen

  • Comfortable running a full route independently

  • Available for rotating Saturdays

How to Apply
