Quality Engineer – Aerospace & Defense Electronics
Location: Warrington, PA 18976
Compensation: $75,000–$85,000 Base Salary + Benefits
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality assurance for Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) within a high-reliability aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.
This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure products meet strict quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with First Article Inspections (FAIs), AS9100/AS9102, IPC standards, root cause analysis, and corrective actions .
Job Responsibilities
• Perform and document First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements.
• Prepare FAI packages, including ballooned drawings, inspection reports, certifications, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001 , and applicable aerospace and defense quality standards.
• Support internal, customer, supplier, and regulatory audits.
• Perform and support in-process and final inspections of PWBs and CCAs using applicable IPC standards.
• Investigate quality issues and perform root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D , and similar methodologies.
• Manage nonconforming materials and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspection, supplier corrective actions, and audits.
• Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to validate process changes and resolve quality concerns.
• Ensure compliance with ESD, FOD, calibration, and configuration-control requirements.
• Track and analyze quality metrics including FPY, DPPM, customer returns, and defect trends .
• Support customer source inspections, quality requests, audits, and technical reviews.
• Promote continuous improvement and a zero-defect manufacturing culture .
• Provide backup support to other Quality Engineers and the Quality Supervisor as needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 1–3+ years of Quality Engineering experience within aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or a similar high-reliability environment.
• Hands-on experience performing First Article Inspections and preparing AS9102 documentation .
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001 standards.
• Experience with quality tools including SPC, PFMEA, MSA, CAPA, and Root Cause Analysis .
• Ability to investigate manufacturing and product quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers, suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
Preferred Experience
• Aerospace and defense electronics manufacturing.
• Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs).
• Rigid-flex, HDI, or other high-reliability PWBs.
• ITAR/EAR compliance and defense contract requirements.
• Supplier quality management and supplier audits.
• Customer and regulatory audits.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
