The Lead Cook is a supervisory position within the Catering Department at East Stroudsburg University. This position will provide the opportunity to lead a team and utilize culinary experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes within the catering department.
• Meet event deadlines in accordance with the banquet event order(s).
• Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
• Ensure all food and beverages are presented, served, and stored according to company standards and health regulations.
• Resolve any issues or last-minute changes during events with professionalism.
• Maintain accurate records of events, staff hours, and client feedback.
• Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
• Safely uses a variety of utensils, including knives.
• Operates various equipment, including ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods.
• Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines.
• Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark's safety policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ensures security of company assets.
• Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service event management.
• Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations, such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage.
• Demonstrate basic math and counting skills.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification preferred).
• Must be able to acquire food safety certification.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
