Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavior Analyst, Education, in consultation with the clinical and individual education program (IEP) teams, designs, develops, implements, monitors, and conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to drive Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs). The Behavior Analyst is knowledgeable about Special Education regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) & Pennsylvania Title 22, Chapter 14 and fluent in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), provides expertise in the analysis of behavioral challenges, their functions, and effective treatments; and provides expert support to inform clinical decision and in-classroom training and consultation on how to implement PBSPs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consult with clinical and individual education program (IEP) teams in the assessment, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring processes by providing expertise in the assessment of behavior functions and the development of positive behavior support plans for those students in Special Education to ensure regulatory alignment and student growth
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop positive behavior support plans for students as determined necessary by special education regulations, including the IDEA & PA Title 22, Chapter 14
  • Train, teach, and direct staff on the proper implementation of positive behavior support plans with fidelity, data collection and analysis, progress monitoring, and reporting through the implementation of in-the-moment training and modeling to ensure all plans are implemented as written
  • Monitor and continually evaluate the effectiveness of functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans through ongoing data collection & analysis to ensure student progress and growth
  • Meet regularly with staff(s) to discuss and analyze student data as well as environmental factors that may impact student progress to ensure positive student response to intervention, modify plans as needed and support progress reporting to families
  • Provide clinical direction related to evidence-based behavioral and clinical interventions and strategies during IEP and team meetings through activities including but not limited the presentation of visual representation of student data to ensure individual and school-wide student progress
  • Serve as a resource to staff, families, community agencies, and other referral sources in the provision of Applied Behavior Analysis by responding to stakeholder inquiries, the provision of Subject Matter Expertise (SME), etc. to ensure the use of individualized evidence-based strategies with school students
  • Support staff in the accurate interpretation and completion of behavior rating scales for students and any other behavior related assessment tools through consultation to ensure accurate interpretation of the assessment tools and the associated results
  • Provide services within an interdisciplinary team approach with activities including but not limited to co-development of behavior plans, co-development of lesson plans, co-development of IEPs, etc. to ensure quality programming for school students
  • Develop and nurture relationships with student families with activities including but not limited to individualized communication to support the generalization of skills and strategies across home and school environments
  • Lead group training in various topics including but not limited to evidence-based practices, principles of applied behavior analysis, and crisis intervention strategies to support Education staff in the ongoing improvement of service delivery
  • Meet with families, students, school district representatives, and other community support systems through the IEP team process or interagency meeting process when necessary to discuss services and expectations and determine regulatory and best-practice-aligned interventions to ensure continuity of care
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBIS) program, as well as the analysis of school-wide behavior data, with activities including but not limited to the development of data collection systems, reinforcement schedules, and the monitoring of those systems to ensure ongoing quality programming
  • Oversee Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) supervision process for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and staff aspiring to achieve BCBA and Board-Certified Assist Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) status through the implementation of ongoing individual and group supervision sessions, ongoing in-the-moment and post hoc feedback, delivery of performance data, etc. per the BACB standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
  • Three (3) years' experience in special education providing direct services to students on the autism spectrum and/or to students with emotional behavioral disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), evidence-based behavioral interventions, and School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBIS)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
  • Must be able to engage intellectually and physically with students in need of crisis intervention
  • Experience using/knowledge of electronic student records preferred
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record
