Job Description

Job Description

At Oberg Industries every tool, die, and precision component depends on a well-orchestrated manufacturing process. We are seeking a Production Planner (Production Control) who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and collaboration to help ensure jobs move efficiently through our manufacturing operations from start to finish.

If you enjoy coordinating schedules, analyzing production priorities, working across departments, and making sure critical customer work stays on track, this could be an excellent opportunity to build a rewarding career with an industry leader in precision manufacturing.

Why Candidates Love This Role:
This position is ideal for someone who wants to be at the center of manufacturing operations without being tied to a machine. You'll gain exposure to engineering, production planning, quality, purchasing, and customer delivery while developing expertise in how precision manufacturing organizations operate.
You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Influence production efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with multiple departments across the business.
  • Develop valuable planning, scheduling, and operations experience.
  • Build a long-term career in a stable, growth-oriented manufacturing company.
What You'll Do:
As a Production Planner in production control, you will play a critical role in planning, routing, and monitoring work throughout the manufacturing process. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure materials, resources, and schedules align to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Route and coordinate the manufacturing steps required for tools, dies, and precision components.
  • Enter, maintain, and extract job-related information within the MRP system.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in partnership with Engineering.
  • Plan and organize shop floor schedules while balancing machine capacity, labor availability, and material constraints.
  • Analyze production schedules, workflow, and manufacturing data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Coordinate the movement of work between departments, divisions, and outside vendors.
  • Proactively communicate job status, priorities, and schedule changes with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage and reroute scrap, rework, and schedule disruptions to minimize production delays.
  • Support on-time delivery goals by ensuring work progresses efficiently through the manufacturing process.

What Makes You Successful:
You are someone who:
  • Enjoys solving scheduling and workflow challenges.
  • Has strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Communicates effectively with both office and shop floor personnel.
  • Can prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Uses data and systems to make informed decisions.
  • Takes ownership of keeping work moving and finding solutions when obstacles arise.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Manufacturing industry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and process written correspondence and technical information.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • U.S. citizenship or ability to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
Preferred:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in a tool and die, precision machining, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with MRP, ERP, scheduling, or production planning systems.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based and involves extensive interaction with manufacturing departments. The role requires frequent travel throughout the facility to coordinate workflow and production activities while spending a significant portion of time working within computer-based systems.

What Oberg Offers:
  • Competitive pay (above industry average)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (100% premium coverage)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Opt-out reimbursement for medical coverage
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match
  • Annual Profit-Sharing contributions
  • Paid time off and holiday pay
  • Annual increases
  • Quarterly bonuses
  • Flexible start times
  • Overtime pay (after 8 hrs/day worked)
  • Air conditioned, temperature-controlled environment
