SUMMARY

Performs scheduled preventative maintenance, services and inspections on heavy, excavation/construction equipment both on the job site and in the maintenance shop. This may require operating a vehicle with a gross weight up to or over 26,000 lbs. When required, the Heavy Equipment Lube Technician will spend less than 50% of their on-duty time driving, however they must possess a valid medical card. Assures that equipment assigned is in good working condition and meets all safety specifications. Work is done primarily during day light hours but may require flexibility to accommodate job schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs preventative maintenance based on established hourly intervals and schedules.
• Uses a variety of hand, power tools and electronic devices to accomplish work.
• Reads and interprets vehicle manuals and schematic diagrams.
• May travel to job site to perform work if necessary.
• Effectively communicates with Site Superintendents and operations about the status of the equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• A level of education that permits reading and understanding technical information as found in heavy, excavation/construction equipment maintenance and repair manuals and bulletins.
• Ability to read and interpret diagnostic instruments.
• Must have general knowledge of computers.
• Requires mechanical/electrical/hydraulic aptitude.
• Requires two years of experience in a similar environment to that of Brubacher.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions including technical matter.
• Must be able to write simple messages; complete reports, records and logs required by BEI and/or government entities.
• Must be able to explain problems and solutions found during analysis.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Requires accurate use of basic math and formulas common to vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Requires an understanding of the metric system as well as US system of measurements.

REASONING ABILITY

• Has an analytic, systematic mind.
• Must be organized and persistent.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• If assigned to drive a truck, must have a valid medical card.

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to bend, push, pull, twist, lift and lower objects, some of which may exceed 50 pounds.
• Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms to exert pressure, turn and hold objects of all sizes and shapes.
