Job Summary:
As a Low Voltage Technician, you will install, wire, configure, test, repair, and maintain various types of low voltage and technology systems equipment. This position will assist the Lead Technician in rough-in cable, drop cable down through walls, and perform various types of copper terminations, including CAT 5e, 6, 6A as well as all non-shielded and shielded cable. The ideal candidate will be a self-starting individual whose responsibilities will include but are not limited to installation of low voltage cable, installation of fiber cable, termination of both, and additional related projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cable infrastructure.
- Running low voltage cabling in commercial buildings up to 2,000,000 sq ft, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
- Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
- Assisting with pre-installation opportunities by designing and planning technical solutions.
- Install support structures and pathways (J-hooks, support rings, cable slings and cable tray/ladder rack, conduit, and raceway)
- Read blueprints and site maps and identify cable paths.
- Providing clear daily updates and communicating effectively with Project Managers, customers, and technicians.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned, such as PC installations, printer deployments, onsite support for a variety of services, computer repair, etc.
What You’ll Need:
- 1+ years’ experience as Low Voltage Cable Technician preferred.
- Knowledge of CAT 5e, 6, 6A is a plus.
- Experience with CCTV, Security Systems, and Alarm Systems is a plus.
- A+, certification highly desired
- Position requires 50% traveling, both in and out of state, including overnight stays
- BICSI certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days
- Proficiency with the use of smartphones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and ability to learn internal software systems.
- Regular reliable attendance
- Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or with teams of up to 20 other technicians.
- Must have ability to lift 60 lbs. as well as know and use proper lifting techniques.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Comfortable working at heights of 3-40 ft.
- Comfortable working in small, cramped spaces.
- Must have reliable transportation and have a valid driver’s license with an exceptional driving record.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check.
