The Opportunity: Shop-Based Equipment Specialist
Are you a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic seeking a stable, shop-based role with a diverse range of work? Join our dedicated team at Kurtz Trading LLC, a leader in retail, and wholesale of used equipment at our auction facility in Littlestown, Pa.
We are seeking a reliable and experienced technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and critical repairs on a diverse selection of equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, tractors, forklifts, and aerial lifts etc. This role isperformed both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Systematically diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using specialized diagnostic tools and software in the shop environment.
- Major Repair & Overhaul: Perform major and minor repairs, including comprehensive overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, and complex hydraulic components.
- Equipment Testing: Safely operate and test repaired machinery in the equipment yard to ensure quality and performance.
- Documentation: Accurately complete detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and parts requisitions using digital systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner, regardless of location (shop or yard).
• Motivation: Be self-motivated and complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
• Organization: keep a clean and orderly work environment, put tools away, and clean up after yourself.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel technician, or similar shop-based role.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines(Tier 3/4/5), complex hydraulic systems, and vehicle electrical/electronic systems.
- Tools: Must possess a comprehensive set of personal trade tools required for the job.
- Licenses: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Record: Must have a clean backgroundand be able to pass a drug screening.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy components (up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work comfortably in the shop environment and outdoors in the yard.
Schedule
- Monday- Friday 7AM-5PM (50 Hrs.)
- Sale day flexibility needed
- 1-2 Saturdays Per Year
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized vocational or technical school program focusing on Diesel Technology or Heavy Equipment Repair.
- Certifications from major manufacturers.
- Experience with welding and fabrication.

- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience with overtime after 40 hours.
