Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence.
- Manage multiple calendars, scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings to ensure optimal time management and workflow coordination.
- Initiate, maintain, and update files relating to case documents, client communications, and other materials critical to legal operations.
- Facilitate communication between clients, courts, and attorneys ensuring timely dissemination of information and updates.
- Conduct legal research under attorney guidance to gather pertinent case information and relevant legal precedents.
- Prepare legal documentations such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, and contracts.
- Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for court proceedings, mediations, and client meetings.
- Perform routine administrative tasks including filing, copying, scanning, and organizing physical and digital legal resources.
- Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and adherence to privacy laws and firm policies.
- Use legal software for case management, time tracking, billing and to facilitate all other legal operations effectively.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal within a law firm or similar legal environment.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, documentation, and practices specific to the jurisdiction in which the firm operates.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal software applications.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and confidentiality.
- Aptitude for detailed work and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor and proactive approach in dealing with clients and colleagues.
- Capability to work independently as well as part of a larger team.
