Senior CNC Lathe & Mill Setup Machinist
Shape precision. Build reliability.
As a seasoned CNC professional (Operator III level) at our Trevose, PA facility, you will produce high‑tolerance parts by setting up and running complex jobs on CNC lathes and milling machines. You’ll keep quality and safety at the forefront while maintaining equipment, supplies, and accurate records.
Schedule: This role is assigned to 2nd shift (2:30 PM – 11:30 PM EDT). Your first few weeks will be on 1st shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM EDT) for training before transitioning to 2nd shift.
We offer a competitive sign-on bonus for qualified candidates based on experience and shift requirements.
A day in the life
You arrive ready for 2nd shift, review the job traveler, and load the CNC program. You set chucks, holders, vises, and collets; select cutters; and confirm offsets. The first-run part is inspected with calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions against drawings. You tweak feeds, speeds, and offsets, then monitor drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing. Throughout the shift, you document actions for the next team, keep the cell 5S-compliant, and proactively change worn tooling. You maintain machine safeguards, follow OSHA and EPA practices, and promptly report hazards—closing out your shift with clean handoffs and tidy work areas.
What you will do
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, as well as manual mills, lathes, and drill presses.
- Load programs; install/adjust chucks, tool holders, attachments, vises, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers.
- Make program and offset adjustments as needed to meet specifications.
- Load/unload raw material and parts; verify machine settings using first‑run and in‑process checks.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools; compare results to engineering drawings and company quality standards.
- Monitor cutting operations (drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing); detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust controls; replace worn tools.
- Document work to maintain continuity across shifts; communicate irregularities and ongoing needs.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and a clean, orderly area consistent with 5S standards.
- Follow and promote company, OSHA, and EPA rules; use machine safeguards; recognize and report hazards; adhere to all safety procedures and standards.
- Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of the work.
