Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and the principal steward of David’s Bridal’s financial strategy, capital structure, and enterprise value creation. CFO is key architect of the financial stewardship needed to launch David’s new “Aisle to Algorithm” strategy. The CFO plays a mission critical role in supporting the company’s evolution from a legacy ‑store centric retailer to a ‑data driven, AI powered, channel ecosystem. This includes shaping financial strategy across retail stores, Pearl, digital commerce, advertising/media, wholesale, franchise, international growth, and marketplace platforms.

GOALS OF AISLE TO ALGORITHM CFO:

  • David’s strategy spans retail, AI, media, planning (demand/strategic/financial planning), wholesale, Store-in-Store expansion, and Pearl’s ecosystem and retail marketplace (platform connecting brands, sellers, consumers, and media/advertising)
  • CFO must act as strategic thought partner and value architect who drives sustainable, profitable growth while harnessing AI and data as core competitive advantages
  • With David’s combining physical/digital retail, AI-powered tools, Pearl, media/content/advertising revenue, sophisticated planning capabilities, wholesale, franchise, international expansion, and marketplace ecosystem—CFO overarching objective is:
    • To align capital, data, and AI-driven insights with enterprise strategy to maximize long-term shareholder/stakeholder value, accelerate scalable growth, optimize margins across diverse revenue streams, and build financial resilience in a fast-evolving, tech-enabled retail landscape
    • Success is measured by sustainable value creation: higher enterprise value multiples, faster profitable scaling, resilient cash generation, and positioning David’s as a leader in its space

  • Serve as the CEO’s primary strategic partner, aligning capital, data, and AI-driven‑ insights with enterprise strategy.
  • Architect and drive the financial model for a tech ‑enabled, asset-lite‑ marketplace, supporting diverse revenue streams.
  • Lead long-term‑ financial planning, scenario modeling, and value creation strategies to elevate enterprise value multiples and cash generation.
  • Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, treasury, accounting, controllership, tax, audit, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure continuity of operations and compliance with regulatory, lender, and covenant requirements.
  • Strengthen financial rigor, process discipline, and performance management systems across the enterprise.
  • Lead capital structure strategy to support growth, innovation, and liquidity needs.
  • Partner with lenders, investors, financial institutions, and potential capital raise partners to ensure confidence, transparency, and alignment.
  • Serve as a trusted executive presence with the Board of Directors, providing clear, data driven‑ insights and recommendations.
  • Optimize customer lifetime value, contribution margins, inventory turns, and unit economics across channels.
  • Support strategic initiatives including international expansion, franchising, and strategic partnerships.
  • Own enterprise workforce and labor economics, including productivity, sourcing strategies (internal, managed services, automation), and cost structure optimization.
  • Lead financial governance and value realization for enterprise transformations, ensuring projected benefits are delivered and reinvested.
  • Partner with Technology leadership to govern technology investments, business cases, and realized outcomes.
  • Lead enterprise financial risk management, including scenario planning for macroeconomic volatility, supply chain disruption, and cyber risk.
  • Drive enterprise cash discipline through working capital optimization, inventory productivity, and capital efficiency.
  • Design financial governance and decision frameworks that increase speed, clarity, and accountability while maintaining control.
  • Serve as a visible enterprise change leader, reinforcing stability, transparency, and confidence during periods of transformation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have a “servant’s heart” mindset since David’s Cultural Ethos is “you’re either serving her or serving someone who does”
  • Must be fun, focused, fearless
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or related advanced credentials preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership, including CFO or divisional CFO roles, preferably for retail, ecommerce, marketplace, media, or ‑technology enabled‑ companies.
  • Demonstrated success in high growth, transformation, or turnaround environments.
  • Proven experience managing complex capital structures, investor/lender relations, and capital raise initiatives.
  • Exceptional communicator with Board level‑ presence and the ability to instill confidence among investors, vendors, and employees.
