Supervise accounting professionals. Manage balance sheet account reconciliations and approve journal entries posted in SAP. Oversee drawing and reconciliation of federal funds for direct loans, Pell, work study. Oversee the reconciliation of state (PHEAA) funds to university records. Ensure internal controls are in place. Assist with coordination of the annual Single and Financial Audits. Ensure compliance with Commonwealth and Federal laws and regulations. Use prior experience and expertise mentor and advise staff on technical accounting matters.

Essential Duties
  • Review and approve balance account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Maintain status of general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Manage requests for information from the University's independent public accountant.
  • Assist the Controller with preparing the annual financial statements.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to resolve issues and reduce the level of effort to process transactions.
  • Monitor and oversee the drawing and reconciliation of federal and state financial aid funds. Track and reconcile FWS drawdowns.
  • Oversee the submissions of the 990-T, 1042, and 1099 forms.
  • Other assigned duties.
Position Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
Specialized Training, Program, Licenses or Certificates:
  • Certified Public Accountant. Preferred
Previous Work Experience:
  • Two years of recent (within 5 years) public accounting experience in the assurance line of business
  • Fund accounting experience in a governmental or not-for-profit entity preferred
